I have an educational background in Psychology and spent the past 18 years working in academic publishing across a broad range of disciplines, from psychology, political science, art history, psychiatry and materials science. Most recently I was the Publishing Director at the Institute of Physics Publishing in the UK where I led a team of 160 people across Europe, N. America, Singapore, China and Japan.
Scientific publishing is undergoing a period of massive change and my focus has therefore been very much on developing strategy, business planning, setting a vision for the future, driving innovation and embracing change. Much of my career has involved working closely with non-profit organizations to establish and improve partnerships. From this, my fascination with collaborative working practices has developed and I certified as a Collaborative Leader and member of the Institute of Collaborative Working (MICW) in 2018 using the ISO 44001: Collaborative business relationship management framework.
Working with multidisciplinary, multicultural, commercial and ‘for purpose’ groups has increasingly focused me on how to best increase the success of internal collaborative initiatives, partnerships, and alliances where there is no easy strategy and potentially very different imperatives. I would like to offer my experience now to help others achieve their goals.
